1969 Transogram Baseball Figurines
The 1969 Transogram baseball figures were a line of 60 individual plastic action statues depicting star players from both the National and American Leagues, including notables like Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, and Dick Allen. Besides Allen, the Phillies were also represented in the set by both Johnny Callison and Cookie Rojas.
These were detailed, pose-able figures (some advertised with “moveable parts”) standing roughly 5-7 inches tall (though exact height varies slightly by player/pose), molded in plastic with painted full team uniforms featuring accurate logos, caps, stirrup socks, belts, and accessories like fielder’s mitts or gloves. They bore generic likenesses rather than precise facial resemblances to the players, with some skin tone variations.
Figures were sold individually in small, white cardboard boxes with red and blue lettering. Boxes featured a transparent plastic window on the front to display the figure inside, set against a baseball stadium backdrop illustration. Side panels included a small player headshot, and the reverse featured a full-color, blank-backed collector card (2½” x 3½”, hand-cut style) with the player’s photo (some matching their 1968 or 1969 Topps card), name, stats, position, team, and set info on a yellow background—intended to be detached and collected separately.
